Life at Oak Tree

40+ Homes | Opened in 1994

Oak Tree is a village of 40 homes, all built in the mid – 90s, situated amongst some very old oak trees sandwiched between Hole #3 on Otter’s Creek and the Palatlakaha River. The Palatlakaha River meanders through the western border of our village. Our village is a mixture of original owners and new residents, which is always great for some good old Plantation storytelling. The serenity and peacefulness of our neighborhood is second to none. The wildlife passing through includes bobcats, armadillos, Sandhill Cranes, turtles, rabbits, squirrels, raccoons, and an occasional alligator showing up on someone’s lawn.

We conduct a village monthly meeting from October through April to keep everyone informed on the business of the Plantation and what is happening in our village. Our Oak Tree social committee does an excellent job of keeping everyone in the village as active as they would like to be while staying close to home. Annually, we have an Oktoberfest, Holiday Party, and Spring Fling. This group also publishes a monthly newsletter, “Oak Tree News”. We have a weekly driveway social time from September through May with occasional trips to local restaurants in the area in lieu of the driveway social. We have an active ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out) group that goes out for breakfast once a week, and our Juliet’s (Just Us Ladies Inspiring, Eating, Talking, and Shopping) venture out monthly. We enjoy life to the fullest in our little corner of The Plantation!
