Are you interested in writing a memoir, book, short story or poem? We are here to help you and have fun. Please join us.
Readers, writers, and listeners are welcome to come to The Plantation Writers Guild meetings. The club gathers every Friday at Hermitage Hall, room 3, from 9:30 to noon. Meetings start with a general discussion on writing, local bookstores, writing conferences, writing contests, or any topic related to our trade.
Those working on projects read their work aloud to be critiqued by the group. Some are writing their own books. Others choose to submit the reading for inclusion in our publication, the GuildSong, to the Arts Cafe, or as an article of the Plantation Times.
Members support each other in their writing efforts while enjoying a casual, comfortable atmosphere. Typically, some members adjourn to a local restaurant for lunch and socializing after the meeting.
Since 2009, the Guild has published an annual anthology. The GuildSong is a collection of poems, short stories, and photographs submitted by the members. The name came from historic storytellers who present their talents in “concerts.” This book is the members’ song. The works are created, edited, critiqued, and polished. They are our best.
Want to buy the latest or an earlier version of the GuildSong? The GuildSong is available at various activity fairs, from the Writers Guild officers or Amazon.com. The GuildSong Index (2009 – 2026), located under DOCUMENTS, can be used to identify books containing writings of a particular author. Also, the Writers Guild Published Works Library lists books for sale written by current members.
Check out our cabinet in Hermitage Hall. It is in the alcove off the entry. The display changes periodically.
